Wichita, Kansas

In the summer of 1999 a cooperative effort between the Kansas Southwestern Railroad, the Kansas Department of Transportation and the City of Wichita provided the City with eight upgraded highway-rail grade crossings as part of a rail corridor improvement project. These upgrades were funded by the Kansas DOT with primarily federal-aid crossing signal improvement funds. Since the installation of the Automated Horn System there have been no grade crossing accidents. For any questions regarding the Bailey Street Corridor Project you may contact Al Cathcart, Kansas DOT, at (785) 296-3529.
