Richardson, Texas
The city of Richardson, TX installed the Automated Horn System in August of 2000 at Custer Parkway. This crossing is on the Kansas City Southern Railroad. The city paid for and installed the AHS. The city contracted with PB Farradyne Inc. to conduct a research report to study the effectiveness of the Automated Horn System. The study concluded that the AHS provided an equal or significantly louder audible warning at the point at which motorists most need the warning. The report also found that the AHS provides a more consistent warning in terms of noise level and number of warnings. If you have any questions regarding the Richardson Installations please contact Mr. Walter Ragsdale City of Richardson at (972) 744-4322.
