The Automated Horn System (AHS) has been installed on three crossings. The first was installed in July of 1996 on Appleton Street. The other two crossings are Crawford and Southern Streets; these were installed in July of 1998. There have been no grade crossing accidents at these crossings since the installation of the AHS. These crossing projects were installed using federal funds. AHS was installed as part of federal-aid crossing signal improvement projects. If you have any questions regarding these installations, you may contact Mr. Al Cathcart, Kansas DOT, at (785) 296-3529 or Glen Welden, City Manager at (316) 421-7030.
